The Process

Each project is unique as each frame is a work of art.  This project, though atypical in that it included a painting instead of a mirror, follows the same steps in developing the concept through final outcome as a mirror frame.

The process begins with a conversation encompassing vision, context, and budget. The clients for this illustrated project were looking for an art piece that reflected their love of Long Island Sound and the natural environment viewed from the home overlooking the shore. After the initial back and forth of ideas, listening to their hopes for the outcome, and studying the home design motif, RBA then provided sketch ideas which synthesized into the final drawing for approval illustrated below.

A Vision Comes to Life

  • Dream it.

Final concept drawing provided to the client for approval and sign-off to begin the fabrication process.

  • Build it.

Final completed art and frame before delivery. The shell elements around the frame display the various mollusks traditionaly found in the waters of Long Island Sound.

  • Place It.

After the final installation! Unlike a mirror where the art is the frame itself, this frame needed to compliment, not overpower the painting. The entire work was designed to complement the design motif of rich fabrics and mahogany in the room.
