About

RBA Design was an idea conceived twenty years ago while living and working in a converted 1840’s Methodist church in the Litchfield Hills. The idea was to explore a new relationship between New England's historical handcrafted design and materials with a more contemporary design sensibility focusing on mirrors. Confronting one’s reflection is personal and is experienced differently by each of us. We create unique mirror frames to enhance that experience.

My own New England roots and growing up in a 290-year-old colonial instilled a lifelong appreciation for handmade objects. The evidence of the originator’s creative handwork and individuality transcends time and affords a greater depth to a singular object. The mirrors produced by RBA are intended to invoke a timeless quality beyond momentary trends and yet embracing contemporary design innovations.

Working with a consultative process allows a client to have input into the design outcome instead of having to “find” the right piece for the established design environment. This approach, of course, is devoid of instant gratification as the whole process requires a month on average to complete. Projects can be based on previous designs scaled to new proportions or a completely new concept. Whatever the purpose, for personal use or a large-scale commercial setting RBA Designed mirrors will enhance any interior. Contact us and schedule a consultation.
